Oklahoma City has a rich history as one of the top livestock markets in the world. Oil, natural gas and petroleum resources are major contributors to the city’s growing economy—the city’s capitol building is the only state capital in the nation with a working oil well on its grounds. The city is rich in history and cherishes its Western roots.
While you’re in town, make sure to stop by the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum and say hello to Buffalo Bill. If you’ve got time, catch a horse show in the city known as the “Horse Show Capital of the World.” Check out the Crystal Bridge at the Myriad Botanical Gardens, a beautiful oasis in the midst of the city. Going down to Oklahoma City’s exciting entertainment district? Get there by water taxi on the Bricktown Canal.
