Living & Working in
Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Most well-known for the Alabama Crimson Tide, Tuscaloosa is a charming and energetic college town. The University of Alabama draws thousands of students, alumni, tourists and sports fans to the city every year. Living here puts you in the middle of the action, with game days exploding with excitement, especially for the beloved Crimson Tide football team. But Tuscaloosa isn’t all about sports. The university’s museums offer cultural experiences, and the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk provides a scenic path for biking, walking, or enjoying live music at the amphitheater.

The town that surrounds the campus is charming and historic in its own right. (Little known fact: Tuscaloosa previously served as the state capitol of Alabama from 1826 to 1846.) The music and arts scene in Tuscaloosa is thriving. Students and residents congregate at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater regularly for open-air concerts, and each year Tuscaloosa is the host of both the Kentuck Art Festival and the Druid City Arts Festival. Locals enjoy the city’s dining scene, which includes long-standing fan favorites like Dreamland BBQ.

Beyond the university, you’ll find a strong focus on healthcare and manufacturing, providing diverse job opportunities. Tuscaloosa boasts a lower cost of living than the national average, making it an attractive option for young professionals and families.
